SAFFORD — The Gila Valley Hiking Club is heading back up the mountain this weekend.
The club is hiking from Cunningham Campground to Grant Creek, a 4.8-mile round trip trek. The trailhead elevation is at 8,850 feet, with an elevation gain of 354 feet.
The hike is considered suitable for novices; however, a number of items are recommended for this hike. Such as long pants due to overgrown grasses, as well as a walking pole to assist with the changes in elevation. Hikers are asked to meet at Graham County Fairgrounds on Saturday at 8 a.m. to carpool to the hike’s start.
Hikers should bring water, snacks or lunch, a hat, proper walking shoes and sunscreen.
