Hearing ‘voices’ prompts burglary call

GRAHAM COUNTY — Burglars that may or may not have made a miraculous escape were the subject of a Graham County Sheriff’s deputy’s report.

A deputy was dispatched to Route 366 Friday, Aug. 18, at about 2:30 a.m., after a property owner said he trapped would-be burglars in his storeroom by parking his truck in front of the only exit.

The deputy, with a Safford Police officer as back-up, entered the storeroom but found no one inside, nor any signs of forced entry.

The property owner said when he went inside, he had heard voices, which made him run out of the storeroom and immediately move his truck to block the door. The owner said he must have moved too slow, allowing the would-be burglars to escape.

The officers cleared the scene with no further action taken.
