GRAHAM COUNTY — If it’s October, that means there is plenty to do on every weekend in the Gila Valley, and this weekend is no exception.
Things get started Thursday with the grand opening of the sixth annual Fright at the Museum haunted house at Eastern Arizona Museum and Historical Society in Pima.
The haunted house is a fund-raiser for the museum and is created by volunteers. It winds through the Carter portion of the museum.
Fright at the Museum is Open Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and Halloween night, Oct. 31, from 7-9 p.m. each day. Admission is $5 person. Plus there’s a no-scare option this weekend.
“Which is all the lights on, no live actors inside, no jump scares and you’ll walk through with one of the guides,” said Clint Woods, Eastern Arizona Museum and Historical Society board member.
The no-scare tours take place Friday and Saturday, from 10 a.m. to noon.
Also starting Thursday is the Eastern Arizona College STEM Club’s Cosmic Haunted House.
The haunted house, at the Discovery Park campus, is built upon the scenario of a UFO crash landing. The club is also asking for the public to share stories of UFOs and extraterrestrial contact with the hashtag #IBelieveAtEAC.
The Cosmic Haunted House is Thursday through Saturday, from 7 p.m. to midnight each day. Admission is $5 per person.
Eastern Arizona Museum and Historical Society is doing double duty this weekend, hosting the annual Pre-Holiday Bazaar in the main museum Friday and Saturday.
The bazaar features local vendors setting up their hand-made wares amid the museum displays. More than a dozen vendors will have hand-crafted gift and food items for sale.
The Pre-Holiday Bazaar will be open Friday and Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Admission is free.
Saturday morning, the Eastern Arizona College Lions Club will host the annual Mental Health Awareness Run and Bike.
Participants can run a 5K or bike a 10K through EAC’s Discovery Park Campus. Click here to register.
Also Saturday is the Family Fun Night fund-raiser, put on by Families Fighting Cancer Together.
The event will feature live music, vendor booths, games, bounce houses, raffles and more. Plus there will be a hamburger, chips and a drink special for $10.
Family Fun Night will take place at Thatcher’s new sports complex at Reay Lane and 8th Street, starting at 5 p.m.
Moving back into Halloween-themed events, Nathaniel’s Childhood Cancer Foundation will present the Halloween Spooktacular Monday, on John Mickelson Field at EAC.
The event will feature games and trick-or-treating for the kids, a silent auction fund-raiser, and mixed green chili or bean burros for sale.
The Halloween Spooktacular starts at 6 p.m. EAC students are free with ID and admission for children 10 and younger is $5. All proceeds will benefit Haileigh Huffstetler, a youth battling cancer for the second time.
