CLIFTON — Greenlee County Sheriff’s Office announced it has temporarily relocated all its jail inmates to Graham County.

The relocation was prompted by some necessary repairs to the Greenlee County Jail housing units.

There was no specific date set for when the inmates will be transported back to Clifton, but the Greenlee County Sheriff’s Office said it anticipated the relocation to be in effect for “a few weeks.”

During the time the inmates are in Safford, Greenlee County Sheriff’s Office announced it will not accept any money or property for inmates. Inmates were also required to leave their personal belongings in Clifton, taking with them only legal paperwork. However, inmates were able to transfer commissary funds.

Transportation for court appearances will remain in place.
