CLIFTON — A Greenlee County Sheriff’s deputy has been taken into custody on assault charges.
In a July 6 posting to social media, Greenlee County Sheriff Eric Ellison said a complaint about the deputy was received July 4 and handed over to Clifton Police for investigation.
Clifton Police determined there was cause to make an arrest and the deputy was charged with aggravated assault on a juvenile.
The deputy was booked into Greenlee County Jail and immediately transferred to Graham County, where he is being held on $5,000 bond.
