PHOENIX — Unemployment claims in Graham County fell seven-tenths of a point in November, helping Graham tie for second lowest unemployment in the state.
That’s according to data released Thursday by the Arizona Commerce Authority.
Graham County’s jobless rate fell from 3.6 percent in October to 2.9 percent in November, tied with Maricopa and Yavapai counties.
Meanwhile, Greenlee County held the spot as the county with the lowest unemployment in the state for 12th month in a row in November. The unemployment rate fell four-tenths of a point, from 3.1 percent in October to 2.7 percent in November.
Nearby Cochise County dropped six-tenths of a point in November, to 3.9 percent.
Statewide, the seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate increased two-tenths of a point in November, up to 4.1 percent. That’s also two-tenths higher than the unemployment rate in Arizona in November 2021. The national rate remained flat at 3.4 percent.
Nine economic sectors reported job gains in November: Trade, transportation and utilities (up 12,500 jobs); government (up 6,100 jobs); education and health services (up 5,900 jobs); professional and business services (up 2,400 jobs); financial activities (up 1,600 jobs); leisure and hospitality (up 1,500 jobs); manufacturing (up 1,000 jobs); construction (up 800 jobs); and natural and resources and mining (up 100 jobs).
Reporting job losses was the information job sector, down 300 jobs.
