THATCHER, Ariz. – Returning board member, Dr. Brad Montierth, was sworn in at the regular monthly meeting of the Graham County Community College District Governing Board. During the meeting, board members unanimously elected Montierth to continue in his role as secretary. The members also unanimously elected Jeff B. Larson to continue as chairman of the board and Lois Ann Moody to be the board’s representative to the Arizona Community College Coordinating Council.
“On behalf of the entire EAC community, we are grateful for the incredible work these individuals provide,” said Todd Haynie, EAC president. “Their steady leadership and unrelenting commitment to the College will sustain our success for years to come.”
Montierth will serve a six-year term representing District #1. He was born in Safford and raised just east of town on his family’s cotton farm. He graduated from Safford High School and Eastern Arizona College.
After completing his studies at EAC, he attended the University of Arizona and graduated with an undergraduate degree in biochemistry. He attended medical school at the U of A and after obtaining his medical degree, he completed his residency in family practice at St. Peter’s Hospital in Olympia, Washington.
Montierth has served on the Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center Governing Board and as its medical chief of staff and vice chief of staff.
Montierth has a significant interest in education. He has been actively involved in teaching medical students, nursing students, and medical assistants. He appreciates and understands the educational and cultural opportunities that EAC brings to the Gila Valley and the high level of personal attention that EAC students receive.
He and his wife Jeanette are the parents of five children and continue to live on the family farm.
