SAFFORD — The Graham County Board of Supervisors agreed to keep a space for weddings and receptions open and operational.
During Monday’s meeting, the board voted unanimously to approve a conditional use permit allowing Savanaha Pederson to use her property on East High Mesa Drive in Solomon as a wedding venue.
“I’ve been to a couple of weddings or receptions at this venue, and it’s a nice quiet set-up and it has good parking,” said Supervisor Clay Mack. “It’s just a neat little place.”
The previous owners of the property had obtained a conditional use permit to use the property for weddings; however, conditional use permits do not transfer with a property’s sale, forcing Pederson’s recent application.
The previous permit was granted over the objections of a few neighbors, mainly over parking concerns. Under the previous permit, parking had to be provided on the property and not the roadway, and that loud noise had to be stopped by 10 p.m., conditions the board asked to be retained in the new permit approved Monday.
There were no objections to Pederson’s request.
