SAFFORD — As nighttime temperatures start to drop, Gila Valley Samaritan Home is asking for the public’s help to help the homeless.
Samaritan Home is asking for donations of pre-owned sleeping bags and tents in good shape for those without a home.
Donations can be dropped off at the Gila Valley Samaritan Home information and respite center, at 114 W. 5th St. in Safford.
Samaritan Home will also be the location of a one-day health clinic, administered by Dr. Susan Jones and Gila Valley Clinic, this Saturday.
“They’ll help with things like blood sugar, blood pressure and, you know, just do a health check,” said Sue Ciacimino, Samaritan Home executive director, “and we’ll have some of the other organizations, like SEABHS and Community Partners, that will be there to explain some of their services, too.”
The health clinic is open to the entire community free of charge, in addition to the area’s unhoused population.
The health clinic will run from 10 a.m. to noon.
