On Saturday September 16, from 9 AM to noon, dozens of volunteers will gather at 921 W Thatcher Blvd. in Safford to band together in service and assemble personal care kits as part of the 9/11 National Day of Service.
The 9/11 Day of Service honors the victims and heroes of that day by transforming the anniversary of the terrorist attacks into a day of unity and service. It is the largest official day of service in the United States.
Individuals and families in the Gila Valley are invited to join in this day of service by volunteering their time, donating food or personal care items or doing a good deed or act of service on their own.
The personal care kits assembled by volunteers will be given to local first responders and other organizations to give to those in need. All food donations will be given to local food pantries and should be non-perishable.
