GCSO offering Are You OK to homebound seniors, disabled

GRAHAM COUNTY — Graham County Sheriff’s Office has a free service for residents with a family member living on his or her own.

Under the Are You OK program , a Sheriff’s Office dispatcher places a call at a designated time each day to check on residents living alone who may struggle with leaving their homes.

That includes homebound seniors, those with physical and developmental disability, shut-ins and those dealing with mental health issues.

The dispatcher will call and ask if the person is OK or needs help. If the person does not answer, or the line is repeatedly busy, dispatch will send a Sheriff’s deputy to physically check on the person.

Calls are made between 7-11 a.m. and the recipient schedules the time.

Families interested are asked to call 928-428-0808 to begin the service.
