Flu continues to spread in Graham, Greenlee counties

SAFFORD — Graham County added another 15 cases of flu to start the new year.

Arizona Department of Health Services reports 12 cases were recorded the week of Jan. 2, one Jan. 9 and three Jan. 16.

That brings Graham County’s total this flu season thus far to 95, more than nine times as many as the 10 cases recorded the entire 2020-21 flu season.

Influenza A accounts for 86 of the cases, while six are Influenza B and three are unknown at this time.

Greenlee County has seen 66 cases of flu so far this season, one case of Influenza B and 65 cases of Influenza A.

Statewide, there have been 4,287 cases of flu so far this season, about 258 percent more than of all of last season’s total of 1,196.
