Excessive heat warning issued for the Gila Valley

TUCSON — An excessive heat warning for the Gila River Valley area is in effect Tuesday through 8 p.m. Wednesday.

The warning, issued by the National Weather Service in Tucson, means that dangerously hot conditions could occur, with higher than average humidity and temperatures predicted to hit about 103.

Those who work or spend significant time outdoors are recommended to take extra precautions, including staying out of the sun as much as possible, drink plenty of fluids and try to limit activity to the cooler morning hours.

Anyone who is overcome by heat should be moved to a cool, shaded area and 9-1-1 should be called.
