Evangelina “Vangie” P. Medina

Evangelina “Vangie” P. Medina, 83, of Clifton, passed away July 3, 2018 in Tucson, AZ.  She was born September 20, 1934 in Antonio, CO to Benjamin Padilla & Celina Martinez joining her siblings Sally, Mary, Ben, Robert, Lily, Linda and Stella Padilla.

On August 31, 1951 Vangie married her one true love, Manuel Medina in Clifton, AZ.  The family grew with the addition of each loved child; Manuel Jr., David, John A., Peter and Ronald P. Medina.

Vangie was a joker who loved people and everyone who knew her, loved her.  She was a friendly person who never knew a stranger and always gave everyone a chance.  Aside from raising her children, she was always busy playing Bingo, poker, cooking and camping.  She also was a member of the Elks, the American Legion and the Beneficio Propio club.

She worked at many jobs such as being the Mayor of Clifton, A Councilwoman, a bus driver, the owner of a bar, a bartender and cashier, but most importantly, a homemaker.  She loved her family and made sure to spend time with them.  In 1998, she was the keynote speaker at the Clifton High School graduation ceremonies.

Vangie is survived by her children; David, Peter and Ronald P. Medina, her siblings; Robert, Lily and Stella Padilla, 11 Grandchildren and 19 Great-Grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband Manuel Medina, Sr., her sons Manuel Jr. and John Andrew Medina, her parents Ben and Celina Padilla, her siblings; Sally Gonzales, Mary P. Baca, Ben Padilla and Linda Jimenez.

Services will be held on Friday, July 13, 2018 at Sacred Heart Church in Clifton beginning with the Rosary being led at 9:00 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m.  Inurnment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
