Emergency blood shortage continues

SAFFORD — The American Red Cross announced the emergency blood shortage continues, especially type O.

At least 10,000 more donations are needed each week in the coming weeks to meet patient needs ahead of the upcoming holiday season.

To help encourage donation, the Red Cross has teamed with Amazon Prime Video to offer a $10 Amazon gift card by e-mail. In addition, all donors between  Nov.  1-12 will automatically be entered to win a trip for two to Hawaii, courtesy of the new Amazon series, “I Know What You Did Last Summer.”

The next local donation opportunities will be:
● Nov. 4, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at Eastern Arizona College

● Nov. 8, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at VFW Post 10385 in Thatcher

● Nov. 10, 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Quality Inn & Suites Safford

● Nov. 27, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at All-Saints Episcopal Church in Safford
