THATCHER, Ariz.— Eastern Arizona College’s Department of Music will host two free concerts in April featuring student performers, faculty and guest artists.

The EAC Jazz Band, under the direction of EAC Professor of Bands Geoff DeSpain, will perform at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 18, in the college’s Fine Arts Auditorium. The concert will feature a variety of classic and contemporary jazz selections.

A second concert, featuring Taylor Scott Davis’ Magnificat, is scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, also in the Fine Arts Auditorium. The performance will include EAC’s Symphonic Choir, A Cappella Choir, Symphonic Orchestra, and the Safford High School Choir, with guest organist Dr. Jacob Hofeling. The performance is coordinated by Dr. Gideon Burrows, director of EAC’s Fine Arts Division.

Magnificat is a modern choral piece inspired by the biblical song of Mary from the Gospel of Luke. The work explores themes of faith, hope and the human experience through rich harmonies and emotional melodies, blending traditional and contemporary choral styles.

Both concerts are free and open to the public.
