THATCHER — Eastern Arizona College’s Division of Fine Arts is delighted to present a faculty recital featuring two of its members. Chase Moore, associate professor of music and director of musical theatre, and Franklin Alvarez, associate professor of music and director of orchestra, will perform as a duo for the Gila Valley community Oct. 12, at 7:30 p.m. in the Activities Center – Lee Little Theater. The recital will include works for the viola and piano including compositions by J.S. Bach, Frederic Chopin, Robert Schumann, and Richard A. Crosby.

A recital of viola and piano works is a rare occasion due to a short list of repertoire for both instruments to collaborate. During the performance, Alvarez and Moore will showcase the lush melodies of the Romantic era with Chopin’s Piano Nocturne, a demanding and rhythmically challenging piece.

“It’s our goal that listeners will leave with a newfound joy in both instruments,” said Moore. “I always count it an honor and privilege to perform with fellow colleagues. Professor Alvarez and I have crafted a wonderful recital and we are thrilled to share such wonderful music with our students, friends, and community.”
