Dixie Warmington

Dixie Lou Warmington, a resident of Safford, entered into rest Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at the age of 74 at the Mount Graham Regional Medical Center with her family by her side. Dixie was born December 3, 1947, at the old Safford Inn Hospital to Charles “Bud” Bolinger & Lillian Jewel Donham.

Dixie grew up on the highway in Pima where she attended school and graduated from Pima High School in 1965.  Dixie met her lifelong companion, Bill, in 1964 and the two were married in 1967.  After a short time of living in Globe, the two finally settled back in the Gila Valley where they raised their three daughters, Robin, Holly, and Heidi. Dixie worked many different jobs, mostly as a retail clerk at various businesses and stores in the Gila Valley before deciding to be a stay-at-home mom and grandmother.

Dixie enjoyed meeting and talking with other people and could have a conversation with just about anyone. She was an avid crafter and enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and tying off quilts. She also dedicated many hours of work into her family genealogy and taking care of grandkids.

Dixie is survived by: her husband of 55 years, William (Bill); her three daughters, Robin Warmington, Holly (Derek) Tuttle, both of Safford, AZ and Heidi (Gary) Gardner of Springerville, AZ; 9 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.

Dixie was preceded in death by: her parents, Charles and Lillian Bolinger; her brother, Robert (Bob) Bolinger; and her grandson, Kyle Johnson.
