Disruption at hospital results in arrest

SAFFORD — A man who tried to claim a medical ailment as justification for being somewhere he wasn’t allowed found himself in jail instead.

On Monday, Oct. 16, Safford Police officers were dispatched to Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center for a man reportedly causing a disturbance. Officers found the man seated in the lobby, refusing to leave because he claimed he needed medical care after being hit in the face.

Hospital security said the man originally arrived to visit his wife, and started being disruptive when he was told to leave because he was trespassed in 2019. Security said that’s when he claimed to have a “sudden medical issue.”

Officers took the man into custody without incident, and he was booked into Graham County Jail on charges of disorderly conduct and third-degree criminal trespassing.
