SUPERIOR — Gila Valley drivers heading to the Phoenix area should expect delays on U.S. Highway 60, between Globe and Superior.

Alternating lane closures and delays will occur Thursday, Aug. 26, from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., for the Pinto Creek Bridge replacement project.

In addition, a full closure of U.S. 60 in both directions will take place Sunday, Sept. 12, through noon Friday, Sept. 17, to build final connections and transition traffic onto the new Pinto Creek Bridge.

During the closure, eastbound traffic will be redirected at State Route 177 in Superior, while westbound traffic will be redirected to state Route 77 in Globe.

The detour includes a 10-percent grade, so motorists should anticipate an increase of travel time.

Motorists should proceed with caution, slow down, watch for equipment, and follow the directions of flaggers and law enforcement.
