PIMA — It was homecoming night on Friday and the Roughrider football team didn’t let that distract them in a 53-0 rout of Scottsdale Christian. Pima used a suffocating defense and a solid running game to put the game away early.

Wyatt Wiltbank had a career night at fullback. He rushed just 9 times for 224 yards and three touchdowns, including one of 82 yards. Brody Brown rolled up 95 yards and two scores on the ground as well as the ‘Riders finished the night with 389 yards rushing.

The Pima defensed sacked SCA quarterback Carson Mousel 8 times, forced a fumbled and Grant Ashby returned an interception 25 yards for a touchdown. They held the Eagles to just 71 yards of total offense.

Pima moves to 3-2 on the season and have outscored their 2A opponents 161-14. They have pitched a shutout in their last two games.

The ‘Riders have a big road challenge next week at Benson as the 2A San Pedro region schedule gets underway.

Scottsdale Christian falls to 3-2 as their three game winning streak is snapped.
