SAFFORD — Area youths will trip the light fantastic for a good cause this weekend.
Safford High School Scholarship Foundation presents the annual Dance It Off! competition Saturday, Jan. 29, at the David M. Player Center for the Arts.
Dancers from around the region compete for top honors in multiple categories, including: solo, duet, small group, large group and production number.
Proceeds from the event benefit Safford High School Scholarship Foundation an all-volunteer foundation established in 1988 with the sole purpose of raising funds for graduates to use for continuing education. In its first year, the foundation awarded one $500 scholarship. Thirty years later, the foundation offers more than 50 scholarships, valued in excess of $50,000.
Dance It Off! starts at 9 a.m. with performances by the students of Safford Dance Academy, and the show will feature more than 100 performances.
