THATCHER — The Gila Valley is offering two opportunities to remember Patriot Day.
At 5:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11, the Community Cruse II will take place. Drivers are encouraged to decorate their vehicles and join the drive, which will start in the Beall’s parking lot and travel to the venue on Safford’s Main Street.
Participants are asked to bring non-perishable food items and unused toiletries to be donated to Mt. Graham Safe House.
At 6 p.m. in Thatcher Park, first responders will man booths at the Responding Under the Stars Vendor Fair.
Booths will offer for sale kettle corn, shaved ice, T-shirts, wood-working items, crafts and other items.
In addition, the Thatcher Fire Department will conduct a ceremonial flag-raising in remembrance of those lost in the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.
