Gila Valley Farmers Market gets grant from United Way of Graham and Greenlee Counties

SAFFORD — Growth of the Gila Valley Farmers Market is getting an assist from the United Way of Graham and Greenlee Counties.

The local United Way presented the farmers market with a grant for $15,000 to expand the program as well as make locally grown fruits and vegetable available to those receiving SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits.

The farmers market is the brainchild of the Gila Valley Food Coalition, in partnership with the Local First Arizona Foundation. Its goal is to assist food producers and consumers access healthy, locally produced food.

The Gila Valley Farmers Market is located at 1051 W. Thatcher Blvd. in Safford, and is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. For more information contact Kay Marchione 928-428-2511 or kay@graham-chamber.com.
