Coronavirus case count continues to shrink in Graham County

SAFFORD — The coronavirus case count in the Gila Valley continues to dwindle, with just 35 new cases this week.

Graham County Health Department reported 10 new cases Sunday, one Monday, 10 Tuesday, eight Wednesday and six Friday. There were no new cases reported Thursday, the first time a day had no new cases since Sept. 28.

That brings the total number of new cases in February thus far to just 169, the second lowest number of cases in a month since 116 were reported in September.

The Health Department also reported a death on Tuesday, a Thatcher resident over the age of 75. It was the seventh death in February.

Since the start of the pandemic, Graham County has experienced 5,286 cases of COVID-19 and 72 deaths.

Greenlee County

Greenlee County Health Department reported six new cases this week — two Sunday, three Monday and one Tuesday.

Greenlee County has experienced 35 new cases in February thus far and 561 since the start of the pandemic. There have been nine deaths.
