SOLOMON — The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 95 in Solomon will host a Women Veterans Recognition Luncheon on Saturday, June 20, to honor women who have served in the United States Armed Forces.

The luncheon will begin at 1 p.m. and is open to women veterans throughout the Gila Valley and San Carlos areas.

The event coincides with the anniversary of the Women’s Armed Services Integration Act, signed into law on June 12, 1948. The legislation granted women the right to serve as permanent, regular members of the U.S. Armed Forces, marking a significant milestone in military history.

Organizers say the luncheon is intended to recognize and celebrate the service and sacrifices made by women veterans across the region.

“This is an opportunity to acknowledge the contributions of women who have proudly served our country,” said representatives of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 95.

Women veterans interested in attending are asked to RSVP by contacting Rosanna at 928-792-9749 or Frances at 928-651-3304.
