THATCHER — There are two opportunities to be active for a great cause this weekend.

The Graham County Substance Abuse Coalition will host its third annual Softball and Cornhole Tournaments at Herb Winsor Field at Thatcher Splash Pad Park on Friday and Saturday.

Things get started with the Cornhole Tournament on Friday, with team registration at 5 p.m. and play starting at 6 p.m.

“We want this to be a true family event, because this is a clean and sober event,” said Kathy Grimes, the coalition’s executive director. “We want you to bring your family out there and participate. We have prizes and it’s going to be so much fun.”

Cost is $40 per two-person team.

Saturday will feature the Softball Tournament, with play starting at 7 a.m. Cost is $250 per team and there will be $15 home run bracelets.

In addition to play, there will be food vendors and raffles throughout both days, and winners will receive trophies and T-shirts.

All proceeds benefit the House of Hope sober living facility.
