CLIFTON — The Art Depot in Greenlee County has two events coming in the next few weeks, and is putting out the call for participants.
First will be the Sugar Skull Masquerade Ball at the Clifton Hotel, Saturday, Oct. 9, from 6-9 p.m. The event will feature prizes for the best mask, a nacho bar and music by DJ Kindle. Cost is $25 per person or $40 for a couple.
Next is the eighth Colors of Copper Fine Arts and Wine Tasting Gala, Nov. 6-7, and organizers are putting out the call for artists.
“It’s been a struggle getting artists to participate because, you know, we had to cancel last year, obviously, because of COVID,” said organizer Barbara Ahmann.
Artists may submit sculpture (fine art metals ceramics, woods, fabrics, and mixed media), paintings, drawings, prints or photography; and must include copper as an element or theme of the work.
Deadline to apply to participate is Oct. 2 and artworks must be delivered to the venue by Oct. 24. Prizes will be awarded Nov. 6.
Participating wineries are Sonoita Vineyards and 1764 Winery.
The event will take place at the historic Clifton Train Station/Visitor’s Center.
Colors of Copper is sponsored by United Way of Graham and Greenlee Counties, the Arizona Commission on the Arts, and the Flinn Foundation.
