SUPERIOR — Gila Valley drivers heading to the Phoenix area should plan for a new travel route for the week of Sept. 12.

U.S. Highway 60, between Miami and Superior, will be closed in both directions for the new Pinto Creek Bridge installation.

The closure will take place from 10 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 12, to noon Friday, Sept. 17.

During the closure, eastbound traffic will be redirected at State Route 177 in Superior, while westbound traffic will be redirected to state Route 77 in Miami.

The detour includes a 10-percent grade, so motorists should anticipate an increase of travel time.

Motorists should proceed with caution, slow down, watch for equipment, and follow the directions of flaggers and law enforcement.
