Clifton Hill Climb to return in April

CLIFTON — With COVID-19 cases on the decline, the Greenlee County Tourism Council announced it’s time to bring back the Clifton Hill Climb, this time with a new name.

In a press release issued March 1, the Tourism Council announced the Felix Callicotte Memorial Hill Climb will take place April 16-18 in Ward Canyon.

The Hill Climb is a timed event, where cars one at a time make their way up the winding road in Ward Canyon.

A Racer’s Parade will take place at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, April 16, on Chase Creek Street and end at the American Legion parking lot. Racing is all day Saturday and half-day Sunday, with the awards ceremony taking place Sunday afternoon at the ball fields in Ward Canyon. The American Legion will serve boxed dinners.

Registration before April 12 is online at bit.ly/ 3bLvlkW. On April 16 and the morning of April 17, racers can register at PJ’s Café in Clifton.
