WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Rep. Juan Ciscomani, R-Ariz., was able to get to more Gila Valley area projects included in the recent House Appropriations bill that passed out of committee.
Ciscomani is proposing to allocate $1 million to the Town of Pima for construction of a road to the new high school, and $1.9 million to the Town of Duncan to repave more than 4,000 feet of Main and High streets.
“We got through all the bills out of committee, and now they’re on to the next step, which will be on the floor and then back to the Senate. It still has a process to go,” Ciscomani said in his social media posting, the Ciscomani Minute.
The funding is part of $20.7 million for the district he was able to insert in the bill as part of the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development package, including:
- $7 million for bridge repairs in Oro Valley
- $7 million for Sierra Vista’s Buffalo Soldier Trail reconstruction
- $1.8 million for Case Grande teacher housing and student learning project
- $1 million for new Casa Grande Elementary School community center
- $1 million for mill and overlay of Eloy’s Frontier Street
If the bill passes and is signed by the president, it will be the second round of funding Ciscomani has been able to secure for both Pima and Duncan. In last year’s bill, he was able to get $2 million to help construct a new fire station for Pima and $274,000 for drainage improvements in Duncan.
