SAFFORD — The next few days will be quite busy in the Gila Valley.
Eastern Arizona Museum in Pima will re-open to the public starting Thursday. The museum had been closed since well before the start of the pandemic due to the roof collapsing in one part of the museum. The roof has been repaired and a new air conditioning unit has also been installed.
On Friday, starting at 4 p.m., Gila Valley Made will open the doors on its new location, 526 W. Main St., in Safford. The co-op — started by Prickly Pear Blossoms’ Tricia Garret, Cakes with TLC’s Torey Cranford and Lynne Meadows Home’s Taylor Ludwig — offers home-based business operators a chance to sell their items in a retail location.

Also on Friday evening, the 5th and Main Building, also known as Holliday’s Photo Emporium, will celebrate 100 years with a public open house and party.
“it’s the centennial of the building, it’s on a Friday night, right when the summer gets out, right when the pandemic is (waning and) people are going back to a little more normal lives, and we just felt like this it and we can’t mess this up,” said attorney Jeremy Waite, who has spearheaded the building’s remodel.
When first opened on May 28, 1921, the building housed Arizona Trust and Savings Bank.

That same night, starting at 6 p.m., the Gathering Scene-Candies will host a Magic: The Gathering tournament.
The Gathering Scene-Candies conducted its soft opening this week, providing a place for all ages to play games, enjoy live music and have non-alcoholic drinks.
On Saturday, it’s back to Pima for a public open house at Eastern Arizona Museum.
