SAFFORD — The Bureau of Land Management’s Safford Field Office is planning work to repair and upgrade recreation facilities and roads at day-use areas in the Gila Box Riparian National Conservation Area, near Safford.

Work will begin on July 17 and will take approximately six months to complete.

The work will include periodic partial restricted access to day-use areas including Dry Canyon Boat Take Out, Old Safford Bridge Picnic Area, Spring Canyon, Serna Cabin, and West Entrance Overlook. None of the work will impact access to the entire conservation area at any given time.

These projects replace aging recreation facilities and improve road systems, enhancing the recreation experience.

Ahead of work periods, signs will be posted, and the public will be informed through BLM Arizona social media channels and radio public service announcements.

For more information contact the Safford Field Office at 928-348-4400.
