SAFFORD — Things are heating up on the Salsa Trail.

The Graham County Chamber of Commerce announced the top prize for this year’s 15th SalsaFest salsa-making competition has been increased to $1,000.

There is prize money for the winner in three categories — Judge’s Choices ($1,700 total in cash prizes), People’s Choice ($800 total in prize money) and Best Presentation ($325 in prizes).

The SalsaFest salsa-making competition, headed by the Safford Lions Club, raises money for scholarships to Eastern Arizona College.

In addition to the salsa making, the Art Guild of Eastern Arizona will hold its 13th annual Fine Arts Show at The Venue on Safford’s Main Street during SalsaFest.

Artists interested in exhibiting must turn their entry forms by Friday, Sept. 17. Entry forms may be found at the Graham County Chamber of Commerce building, 1051 W. Thatcher Blvd., in Safford.

SalsaFest will take place Sept. 24-25 on Main Street in Downtown Safford.
