Betty Jane Bryce Larson

LARSON, Betty Jane Bryce 3/4/1932 – 6/20/2017 passed away peacefully at home June 20th. She was 85. Betty was born in Bryce, AZ. to Alma and Mary Wyona Bryce. At age six her family moved to Pima, AZ. where her father established a dairy farm. Betty attended Pima Public Schools. She excelled in academics, music, leadership and socializing. Betty attended Eastern Arizona Junior College and then Brigham Young University graduating in 1954 with a degree in Home Economics. She took a teaching job in Thatcher and began dating Bruce Larson, basketball coach at EA, that same year. She then taught in Mesa but returned to Thatcher and married Bruce on June 6, 1956. Betty and Bruce celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last summer with family and friends. They moved to Tucson in 1959 and have resided in the same home raising five children. Betty was a loving and devoted wife, a wise and wonderful mother and a beloved grandmother. She was an accomplished pianist/organist, excellent seamstress and tremendous leader and caregiver. Her exemplary service and strong, steady example have sustained many through difficult times. Her great faith in and testimony of Jesus Christ was evident in the way she lived her life. Betty radiated humility, charity and kindness. Betty is survived by her sweetheart, Bruce; her children, Brenda (Steve), Brian (Katy), Becky (Carsten), Brock (Yahaira) and younger brother, Ben (Patricia) Bryce of Pima, AZ. Betty is preceded in death by her older brother, Wendell (Norma) Bryce and her son, Brett (Lorraine). Betty’s legacy includes 21 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Visitation Friday, July 7, 2017, 6:00 p.m. -8:00 p.m. at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway. Funeral Saturday, July 8, 2017, 10:00 a.m. at the LDS Church, 6901 Kenyon Dr.
