GRAHAM COUNTY — Graham County Sheriff’s deputies assisted Arizona Game and Fish in the rescue and relocation of a bear cub.

On Sunday, Oct. 24, the brown bear cub was spotted near the St. Paisius Monastery, on south Sky Blue Road. Nuns reported seeing the cub nuns in a pomegranate field, eating the fruit.

The cub was secured with a catch pole and placed in an animal carrier.

Since the cub’s mother was not found in the vicinity, and the cub appeared to have a minor injury to its nose and top of its head, Game and Fish said it would transport the cub to a bear rehabilitation center for care and relocation.
