SAFFORD – Slowly drifting over Downtown Safford early Saturday morning, Aug. 19, a large multicolored hot-air balloon was gradually making its way over Main Street.
A very light breeze moved the lighter-than-air craft along, enabling the occupants to enjoy an obstructed close up view of rooftops, air conditioning units, overhead power lines, roosting pigeons and many other business necessities not normally seen from ground level.
Not exactly a Chamber of Commerce promotional moment, but at least the pilot practiced “safety first” and waited for the green light before proceeding. You never know when another speeding balloon might suddenly appear out of nowhere!
