SAN CARLOS — The Apache Gold Casino and Resort, and San Carlos Apache Tribe, will host this year’s Arizona Tribal Fire and Climate Resilience Consortium.

Presented by the Southwest Fire Science Consortium, Arizona Wildlife Initiative, the Inter-Tribal Council of Arizona, and Trees Water and People, the summit will focus on:
- Enhancing tribal capacity in natural resource and fire management
- Teaching tips and tricks for grant writing and project management
- Exploring key agreements including TFPA, 638, and RTRL
- Showcasing tribe-to-tribe collaborations and research partnerships
The San Carlos Apache Reservation has seen multiple wildfires this season, including the Watch fire that peaked at nearly 2,200 acres and destroyed 21 homes and left 73 people homeless. The fire was human-caused and one person has been charged with arson.
