Another Safford death related to COVID-19

SAFFORD — There was just one new case of COVID-19 in Graham County Wednesday; however, there was also one new death.

Graham County Health Department reported the new death was Safford resident over the age of 65. That brings Graham County’s total number of deaths as a result of COVID-19 to 23 and a mortality rate of 3 percent of all those who test positive.

The new positive case was located on the San Carlos Apache reservation. Graham County’s total number of cases is at 766, with 225 active and 518 recovered. Graham County’s positivity rate is 14.2 percent.

The San Carlos Apache tribe reported a total of 12 new cases on the reservation Wednesday.

That brings the tribe’s total to 883, with 81 cases considered active, 787 recovered and 15 deaths.

Greenlee County Health Department reports the county is remaining free of new COVID-19 cases.

The county is on Day 32 of no new cases, with the total holding at 58. One case is still active, 55 have recovered and there have been two deaths.
