ACF of the Gila Valley announces 2021 grant cycle has opened

SAFFORD —Help for nonprofit organizations is on the way from Arizona Community Foundation of the Gila Valley.

“We have a grant cycle opening on Monday, April 12, and it is specifically for organizations that are working to serve Graham and Greenlee counties,” said Colleen Ialiucci, philanthropic adviser for ACF of the Gila Valley

The grants can be used to fund operational costs, as well as for specific projects, such as improvements to health-care opportunities and wildland conservation.

The grants are reviewed by residents of Graham and Greenlee counties.

“They look at the needs that are out there and decide where to put that money to have the greatest impact,” said Angie Laskarides, ACF regional director for southeastern Arizona. “It’s kind of nice because the decisions are local and the money is local.”

Last year, 12 nonprofit organizations received a total of $36,000 in grants from Arizona Community Foundation of the Gila Valley, including:

● Arizona Land and Water Trust

● Arizona Town Hall

● Boys & Girls Club of the Gila Valley

● Child and Family Resources, Inc.

● Desert Cat Rescue & Sanctuary of Arizona

● Gila Valley Arts Council

● Gila Valley Samaritan Home, Inc.

● Girl Scouts of Southern Arizona

● Pride Society

● Southeastern Arizona Clean and Beautiful

● Special Olympics Arizona, Inc.

● Tooth B.U.D.D.S., Inc.

To be eligible for a grant, a representative of a qualifying nonprofit agency must participate in one of two ACF virtual workshops Tuesday.
