SAFFORD — Nonprofit organizations serving Safford residents have until the end of the month to apply for a grant from the city.

Safford has budgeted $100,000 for the program and every nonprofit that meets the city’s criteria can request up to $20,000. However, the organizations are not guaranteed the full amount requested.

To qualify, organizations must show proof of chartering through the Arizona Corporation Commission and nonprofit status through the IRS, and detail how many Safford residents receive benefit from the services or activities provided by the organization.

In addition, the organizations must disclose their budgets and insurance, and provide the city with a detailed description of what the grant will be used for as well as expected outcomes.

Applications are due by Aug. 31 and final determination of which organizations will receive funding and how much will be determined by a majority vote of the Safford City Council at a subsequent regular meeting.
