TUCSON — The Arts Foundation for Tucson and Southern Arizona announced the recipients of 2026 Operating Support Grants and two regional arts groups received funding.
Both the Gila Valley Arts Council and Willcox Theater and Arts received part of the $320,000 granted to 23 different arts organizations in Southeastern Arizona.
Individual grant amounts to Gila Valley Arts Council and Willcox Theater and Arts were not immediately disclosed.
Gila Valley Arts Council supports “performing arts in Southeastern Arizona through (its) school residency program and public performances,” according to its website.
The council has announced its 2026-27 performing arts season, with Jacome Flamenco the first performance in September, followed by Folk Legacy Trio in November, Frisson Ensemble in February and Spanish Brass in March.
Gila Valley Arts Council was also recognized on the floor of Congress in April by U.S. Rep. Juan Ciscomani, R-Ariz., for the Arts Council’s 40th anniversary.
Willcox Theater and Arts restored its art-deco style 1914 theater and shows first-run films seven days a week. Its adjoining Studio 128 and Palace buildings provide space for live performances, art workshops, STEAM and digital arts programs.
