New statewide survey reveals 65% of Arizona voters, including Democrats, Independents, and Republicans, support ban on cross-sex hormones and puberty blockers for minors
PHOENIX — Center for Arizona Policy (CAP) released findings today from a statewide survey revealing where Arizona voters stand on key policy issues ahead of the 2026 Legislative Session.
The survey of 600 registered voters found overwhelming cross-partisan opposition to medical interventions that attempt to alter the sexual identity of children. Sixty-five percent of those surveyed agree it should be illegal to prescribe children “cross sex hormones or puberty blockers that alter their sexual identity and function.” Opposition spans racial and party lines: 68% of Hispanic voters, 34% of Democrats, 63% of Independents, and 92% of Republicans support prohibiting these gender interventions for children.
When asked, “do you support or oppose allowing taxpayer funds to go to organizations that provide gender transition surgeries or medical interventions for adults,” 62% opposed taxpayer funding, including 65% of Hispanic voters, 31% of Democrats, 58% of Independents, and 91% of Republicans.
The survey also revealed strong support for legislation modeled after Texas law that strengthens penalties for individuals who purchase sex as a method to reduce trafficking by discouraging demand. Sixty-seven percent of Arizona voters support a similar law, representing a majority from all party affiliations: 56% of Democrats, 68% of Independents, and 76% of Republicans.
Center for Arizona Policy President Peter Gentala issued the following statement:
“Arizona voters of all parties aren’t buying the extremism pushed by Governor Hobbs and radical legislators. Arizonans hold common-sense positions that put the well-being of children and vulnerable individuals first. These survey results energize us as we enter a new legislative session. Families stand firmly behind our priorities to protect children from dangerous and experimental cross-sex hormone “treatments,” to prevent taxpayer money from flowing to organizations that perform gender surgeries on individuals of any age, and to address the scourge of sex trafficking by getting tough on “buyers.” We look forward to taking on these important fights in the coming days with support from bold legislators who listen to the voices of Arizonans and act on principle.”
