SAFFORD — The Safford Unified School District is once again making meals available to youths this summer.
The Safford Summer Food Program starts Monday, June 2, and runs through Wednesday, July 11. There will be no meals served July 3-4.
Breakfast will be served in person at Safford Middle School, from 8-9 a.m. each day. Lunch will be served 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. There will be both cold and hot options for both meals.
There will be no drive-through service.
The meals are free to all children 18 years old and younger, regardless of where they attend school. There are no income requirements or forms to complete. Adults may purchase a breakfast meal for $2.85 and a lunch meal for $4.95.

The Duncan and Clifton-Morenci Food Banks will also be distributing Summer Snacks free to children this summer.
The Duncan Food Bank, at 37 Gale Ave., will be distributing breakfast items every Wednesday through July 30. The Clifton Food Bank, at 375 Shannon Rd., will distribute breakfast items every Thursday through July 31.
The first 100 children 18 and under at each food bank will be given five daily breakfast packs and two full-size weekend items free.
Free backpacks will also be distributed while supplies last.
There are also food distributions for all ages through a number of food banks.
Our Neighbor’s Farm and Pantry in Safford distributes food Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 8 a.m. to noon. Identification is required.
The food pantry at St. Vincent de Paul Society in Safford is open Tuesdays through Fridays, from 10 a.m. to noon. Identification and proof of Graham County residency required.
The Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona distributes food at Thatcher Splash Pad Park the second Wednesday of each month, from 9-10:30 a.m. Photo ID, proof of residency and income declaration is required.
Angel’s Closet Clothing Bank and Food Pantry, in Safford, distributes the first Tuesday of every month, from 9 a.m. to noon.
The Clifton Food Bank distributes on the second Friday and third Thursday of each month, from 9:30-11 a.m. each day. Identification and proof of Greenlee County residency required, and recipients must meet income guidelines.
The Duncan Food Bank distributes the second Wednesday of the month, from 3:30-5 p.m., and the fourth Tuesday of the month, from 9-10:30 a.m. Identification and proof of Greenlee County residency required, and recipients must meet income guidelines.
