SAFFORD — The House of Hope Sober Living Facility is getting a new name.
“Tomorrow is Marge Schade’s 100th birthday; the Fourth of July. So we’re rededicating the house, and it will be the Marge Schade House of Hope,” said Jason Baca, House of Hope director.
The rededication will take place at the sober living facility, 640 W. 1st St. in Safford, from noon to 2 p.m.
In addition to the new name, there will be refreshments and the graduation of two sober living facility members.
Schade, who passed away April 20 of this year, donated the land for the sober living facility, next to her Pepsi bottling plant.
In addition to supporting the Graham County Substance Abuse Coalition, Schade was a founding member of the Hospital Auxiliary, was a member of the GFWC Woman’s Club of Safford, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Graham County Historical Society, Eastern Star, the Friends of the Library and the Gila Valley Arts Council, among other civic organizations.
The Woman’s Club named her Woman of the Year in 1990, and she was named Pepsi Bottler of the Year in 2018.
