Beehive fire at 7K acres

NOGALES — The incident command team on the Beehive fire in Santa Cruz County reports the fire are at 7,000 acres, and is about 15 percent contained.

The fire is burning sagebrush, oak, juniper and grasses; and if proving difficult to contain due to its remote location combined with the extreme heat and low humidity. The fire has forced the closure of Aravaca Lake, Aravaca Campground and forest roads in the area.

Two hundred personnel have been assigned to battle the blaze, which started June 30.

Cause of the fire remains under investigation.
