SAFFORD — The person suspected of stealing a vehicle from in front of a local business is now in custody.
The vehicle was reported stolen Tuesday, March 30, and Safford Police officers located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop. The driver refused to stop and officers moved into a high-speed pursuit south on U.S Highway 191.
The driver crashed the vehicle on the side of the highway, just south of the State Route 366 Swift Trail intersection, and officers were able to take the driver into custody.
He described as a 26-year-old male. His identity has not yet been released.
