WILLCOX — Plan for extra time for travel from the Gila Valley to Phoenix and Tucson over the next few weeks.

This week will see work start on the I-10 bridge project at Haskell Avenue, west of Willcox.

Work begins Tuesday, March 24, and traffic delays are possible during the first few weeks of work. The bridge over I-10 will close to all traffic starting April 5.

Starting mid-April, weekend traffic will be diverted off the I-10 onto exit and entrance ramps while the bridge is removed and replaced.

The project is expected to run through the spring and summer, with completion sometime in the early fall.

Work continues on the Pinto Creek Bridge replacement, necessitating lane closures on U.S. Highway 60 between Miami, Ariz., and Superior.

Lane restrictions will take place Tuesday, March 23, and Wednesday, March 24, between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Motorists can expect delays of about 15 minutes.

Drivers are reminded to proceed with caution and obey all speed changes in construction areas.
