8 new cases of COVID-19 in Graham County

SAFFORD — Graham County Health Department announced eight new cases of COVID-19 Wednesday.

There was one new case each in Pima, Safford and Thatcher, and five cases on the San Carlos Apache reservation.

There have been 33 new cases announced so far this week. There were three cases Sunday, no cases Monday, 22 Tuesday — which included six from last Saturday’s testing blitz — and the eight Wednesday. With three days still to go, it’s the most cases in a week since the county recorded 36 cases the week of Aug. 30.

Graham County has a total number of 851 cases, with a positivity rate of 5.5 percent. There have been 25 deaths and the mortality rate is 2.94 percent.

Greenlee County is on its sixth day in a row without a new positive case of coronavirus. Greenlee County Health Department reports the county’s total at 59, with one active case. There have been two deaths.
