On Monday, February 11, 2019, a Safford police officer found a woman who was in need of medical assistance. The woman was transported to the hospital and when hospital staff removed her clothing, they found that she had concealed some jewelry in her armpits. The items still had price tags on them. The woman had managed to stash several necklaces, a watch, and some chains.
The woman was unconscious while authorities were present, so they were unable to question her about the merchandise. An officer contacted Walmart asset protection to review camera footage.
The case remains under investigation.
